phase 2
using digital work to paint on is one
avenue i want to experiment more
with.  after consulting with my mentor i
decided to trash an image to paint on.
these 2 bw images
are from this effort
>>>>this image was
flipped & rotated.
a  square section of
this image will be
selected for printing
when viewing these images up
close in photoshop  there is an
xray or shroud of turin quality.
think it is due to the clipping that
takes place when making drastic
alterations in bw channel mixing. i
like it & think it may lend itself to
interesting textures/complexities
that can be a payoff to the viewer
upon closer examination. i am not
really sure at this time what will
show through, yet given my
penchant for building up
paintings via tons of transparent
layers, it seems likely that some
will show through. besides, that is
sort of the point, no?
the 2 seaweed pics & the bw
version were converted to
cmyk for print. big changes
take place when going from
rgb to cmyk. after conversion
i messed with the saturation
levels & the gamut on the
middle tone values a bit.
reason for this is that i think
a lot will get lost or
basterdized in the output
print. this is ok since it is not
the end product.
below  i took selections from the different paint-all versions
(see them via the link next to the first image on this pg).
think it came out busy, yet sorta like the idea of having
underlying geometric shapes to show through. just think
this one may have to much contrast in the details to have
the shape retain their identity.  the geometric shapes may
not be defined enough, yet if they are too define they may
dominate everything else. will jump & see what happens
